Educating character is not something new. The formation of values, virtues, and socio-emotional skills has historically been at the heart of school education. However, in recent decades, this topic has gained greater prominence thanks to evidence from economics and positive psychology about the impact these skills have on people’s lives. We also now know the results of educational programs aimed at developing character and the practices that have proven effective. The Soy Astoreca program has incorporated these learnings and integrated them into its design and implementation.
Together with Fundación Astoreca and KommPakt Chile, we were selected as winners of the Collective Impact Fund, an initiative led by Fundación Reimagina and supported by the BHP Foundation.
Thanks to the Collective Impact Fund, the Soy+ Astoreca Program is being launched for the first time in the Aysén region, in our three schools in Puerto Guadal, Puerto Bertrand, and Mallín Grande, to develop positive habits in our students that will help them face life more confidently and contribute to society.
